I’m Tamara Layden – an ecologist, data scientist, graphic artist, and founder of Hukuri Creative Consulting. My work focuses on bringing ideas and initiatives to life through meaningful collaboration, systems-thinking, evaluation, and visual synthesis, while grounding in land and data justice.

Hukuri Creative Consulting, a.k.a. “Hukuri Creates,” is the namesake of my maternal lineage, carried through generations of land and water stewards from homelands in Puducherry, India, to diaspora in Portland, Oregon. As Desi, Hukuri embodies the relationships, rights, and responsibilities to global landscapes, communities, and cultures.

Honoring this lineage, my work focuses on the intersections between social justice and environmentalism. I have driven several projects that bring anti-oppressive, community-responsive action to the forefront of environmental initiatives through advancing ecological equity, rights-based collaborations, visual storytelling, and Indigenous data governance.
