I am a postdoctoral collaborator and independent consultant with over a decade of experience in ecology, project management, and community leadership. Building from my extensive background in environmental research and racial equity, my recent efforts have focused on strengthening justice-centered processes in research and practice through:

  • Strategic planning and co-design of community-responsive projects
  • Facilitating and coordinating land-based workshops and events
  • Building resource offerings and curriculum
  • Evaluating and synthesizing project outcomes based in equity and community reciprocity

My longstanding efforts and lived experiences are rooted in the collective hopes, visions, and strategies for environmental and cultural resilience.

For over a decade, I have cultivated an expansive understanding of landscapes and embedded relationships. Since earning my BS in Zoology from Oregon State University, I has deepened my ecological understanding through driving over 50 collaborative initiatives in environmental equity, ecosystem restoration, freshwater ecology, and wildlife monitoring with several non-profit, governmental, and academic partners, including the Bird Alliance of Oregon, Reed College, and Oregon Metro Parks and Nature.

In strengthening networks of resilience, I have worked with over a dozen Indigenous and community-led organizations to bring anti-oppressive, community-responsive action to the forefront of environmental initiatives. My drive to anchor environmental action in community accountability recently culminated into earning my PhD in Ecology from Colorado State University, where I outlined pathways towards honoring Indigenous rights and relational responsibilities in conservation science.

Emerging from this foundation, I launched Hukuri Creative Consulting to advance ecological equity, rights-based collaborations, and Indigenous governance in environmental research, practice, and policy. I am currently partnering with the Indigenous Land & Data Stewards Lab, the Indigenous Data Alliance, the Collaboratory for Indigenous Data Governance, and Mending Mountains Collective in these efforts and am excited to grow and deepen justice-oriented collaborations that reinforce resilient and resourced communities, landscapes, and cultures.
